Marking Criteria for Exposition on Image Manipulation

A

The student demonstrates an extensive knowledge and understanding of techniques used to manipulate digital images and the emotional influence of utilising such techniques. The student also demonstrates extensive knowledge and understanding about the influence of a Voluntary Media Code of Conduct. The student applies this knowledge to their argument for/against the use of such techniques in an identified context (magazine covers or school photos). In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in using persuasive language to express their opinion.

B

The student demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of techniques used to manipulate digital images and the emotional influence of utilising such techniques. The student also demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding about the influence of a Voluntary Media Code of Conduct. The student applies this knowledge to their argument for/against the use of such techniques in an identified context (magazine covers or school photos). In addition, the student has achieved a high level of competence in using persuasive language to express their opinion. 

C

The student demonstrates a sound level of knowledge and understanding of techniques used to manipulate digital images or the emotional influence of utilising such techniques. The student also demonstrates a sound knowledge and understanding about the influence of a Voluntary Media Code of Conduct. The student applies most of this knowledge to their argument for/against the use of such techniques in an identified context (magazine covers or school photos). In addition, the student has achieved an adequate level of competence in using persuasive language to express their opinion. 

D

The student demonstrates a basic knowledge and understanding of techniques used to manipulate digital images or the emotional influence of utilising such techniques. Alternatively, the student also demonstrates a basic knowledge and understanding about the influence of a Voluntary Media Code of Conduct. The student applies some of their knowledge to their argument for/against the use of such techniques in an identified context (magazine covers or school photos). In addition, the student has a limited level of competence in using persuasive language to express their opinion. 

E

The student demonstrates an elementary level of knowledge and understanding of techniques used to manipulate digital images or the emotional influence of utilising such techniques. Alternatively, the student also demonstrates elementary knowledge and understanding about the influence of a Voluntary Media Code of Conduct. The student struggles to apply their knowledge to their argument for/against the use of such techniques in an identified context (magazine covers or school photos). In addition, the student has very limited level of competence in using persuasive language to express their opinion, which requires more opportunities for improvement.
